Official anthem
“Incuintri al doman” is the official anthem of Friuli, written by Renato Stroili Gurisatti and set to music by Valter Sivilotti.
It was chosen among other compositions admitted to the contest organized by Istitût Ladin Furlan “Pre Checo Placerean” and Messaggero Veneto, with the collaboration of ARLeF – Agenzia Regionale per la Lingua Friulana (Regional Agency for Friulian Language) and it was formally announced as a winner during the cerimony of the Festa della Patria del Friuli (Celebration of the Friulian homeland), in Valvasone Arzene, the 8th of April of 2018.
The anthem should evoke the main characteristics distinctive to Friuli, with reference to history, traditions, social and linguistic identity of the entire community.
After a careful evaluation by a jury of experts – chaired by the composer of international standing Azio Corghi and comprising Marco Maria Tosolini, Alessio Screm, Chiara Vidoni and the Director of ARLeF William Cisilino – “Incuintri al doman” was chosen as the official anthem of Friuli, with the following statement: “music and lyrics complement each other thanks to wide-ranging vocal and instrumental writing that succeeds in creating considerable melodious momentum”.
The anthem was first presented at the Duomo di Lignano Sabbiadoro, the 6th of October of 2018.
“Incuintri al doman” was performed by the Mitteleuropa Orchestra, conducted by maestro Marco Guidarini. The vocal performance was given by the Coro del Friuli Venezia Giulia, conducted by maestro Cristiano dell’Oste.
Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, which contains “Ode to Joy”, the anthem of Europe, was performed as a prelude to the anthem.
On the occasion of the Fieste de Patrie dal Friûl of 2020, ARLeF and Istitût Ladin Furlan released a new music video of the official Anthem of Friuli, “Incuintri al doman”. A very successful video in which, in less than 2 minutes, the entire friulian homeland is shown in all its beauty by its nature, seasons, cities, villages and history, while the young singers of the ArteVoce Ensemble (Consuelo Avoledo, Michela Franceschina, Jessica Interdonato e Giulia Polidori), create a moving and evocative picture, with words and music rearranged by the musician Geremy Serravalle.
